When a product is technologically advanced, crafting a clear message can be difficult. This was one of the challenges SFW faced when redesigning the website for the smart home application known as TiO® (Turn It ON).
TiO is designed to make life easier, but you wouldn’t know it from the company’s original website. In an effort to explain every aspect of the technology and capabilities, large bodies of copy overwhelmed visitors and pushed away non-tech savvy homeowners and builders.
SFW overhauled the look, feel and copy of the website to speak directly to homebuilders.
Messaging was boiled down to the bare basics. And, to highlight the value TiO brings to builders and the convenience TiO brings to homeowners, clean and simple visuals were used to represent features.
Our favorite part of the rebuild? The interactive header animation on the website’s “How It Works” page. Click “Welcome Home” and the living lights come on, the blinds raise, the stereo kicks on, and the thermostat dials up. Conversely, click the “Away” button and the lights dim, the blinds close, the stereo shuts down, and the thermostat goes into energy-saving mode.
