Art Director

You direct art, sure. But you’re also a problem solver. You can see the big picture and can explain why every type treatment, photography style, and color palette matters to that big picture. We’re looking for someone who wants to solve problems with creative work, backed by research, that moves the needle. You can read between the lines of a project and identify opportunities to pitch new work to clients or do something fun around the office. As one of our Art Directors, you’ll partner with passionate Marketing Strategists on daily responsibilities and with the Creative Director for career development and the creative product. Your work will be critical to SFW’s ability to distinguish itself with break-through creative and will add to the agency’s high standard of excellence.

At SFW, an effective Art Director is expected to:

  • Be passionate
  • Create on-brand, on-strategy, compelling creative solutions for our clients that are supported by research
  • Have the vision and design sensibilities to execute on these ideas with intelligence and imagination
  • Manage multiple projects and deadlines efficiently and responsibly and maintain a level of flexibility to quickly respond to changing client demands
  • Work and communicate productively with a range of personalities and work styles both internally and with clients
  • Be able to concept ideas across all platforms, including digital and social, resulting in integrated creative campaigns
  • Be an articulate, compelling, and persuasive presenter
  • Maintain effective organizational skills with strong attention to detail
  • Execute ideas for production either independently if schedules allow or working with studio to ensure a high level of standard
  • Maintain flexibility and a willingness to assist other teams as a creative resource to ensure all clients are being treated with the utmost respect and attention they deserve

Key Responsibilities:

  • Actively participate in the team’s creative process from concept to execution to ensure delivery of results-oriented work
  • Meet assigned deadlines and if necessary, communicate proactively to shift deadlines
  • Continually develop and refine your knowledge and abilities to perform at the highest levels
  • Expert knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite
  • Take the lead. Be proficient and vocal in planning and art directing photoshoots and/or TV and video productions
  • Have a competent knowledge of print production and retouching and be able to direct vendors in achieving a high degree of excellence
  • Seek and share examples of creative excellence with the creative team and other agency members while maintaining an awareness of work being produced by industry-leading creatives
  • Stay up to date on everything design and industry-related and share inspiring work with others. Passion is contagious.
  • Identify and participate in opportunities to build and expand a professional network
  • Promote SFW and become an ambassador for the agency’s Point of View
  • Add to the culture of SFW by participating in events/activities and by creating/organizing new events/activities
