Marketing Strategist

The marketing strategy teams at SFW act as external marketing team for the clients they serve. We uncover opportunities and trends the client didn’t ask for and help them win in unexpected ways.

Marketing Strategists are responsible for contributing to the success of the Marketing Strategy team in the daily servicing of their clients and supporting other agency activities. It is recommended that Marketing Strategists have a BA/BS degree in marketing, business, communications or a related field. Previous internship experience is a plus.

Successful Marketing Strategists will be held to the following expectations:

Client Management & Partnership

  • Become an expert on clients’ business, competition, market challenges, marketing plan, brand strategy and research
  • Get to know the clients and build rapport based on trust and accountability
  • Become an expert on the competition. Find how their strengths and weaknesses can contribute to our goals.
  • Organize, develop and assist the account leads in client presentations
  • Communicate effectively and professionally in a verbal and written manner
  • Assist with proactive projection updates and delivery
  • Assist with accurate and timely preparation of production, media and other established budgets, as well as estimates for approval
  • Maintain positive morale and sense of teamwork among agency staff
  • Assist in coordination of client billing with the accounting department, check for accuracy and review against estimates
  • Manage all administrative duties including weekly status reports, project documentation, client billing, and internal job management
  • Evaluate client direction to ensure it is clear and thorough

Project Management

  • Own new job activation process through completion process
  • Assume overall ownership of assigned projects and tasks
  • Own the day-to-day trafficking of projects by keeping them on schedule and within budget
  • Act as knowledge hub on assigned projects
  • Understand project priority and anticipate schedule conflicts
  • Think critically, proactively and empathetically when managing projects
  • Maintain accurate notes for all meetings, then distribute feedback accordingly
  • Ensure all work has been routed to the appropriate parties
  • Proofread and review all work prior to submitting to the client for approval to ensure work is on strategy and accurate
  • Consolidate feedback from all necessary employees
  • Gather outside production estimates as needed
  • Coordinate delivery of assets to media vendors
