SFW Aquires Social Media Company
SFW Marketing announces the recent acquisition of Dallas-based Laketography Social Media. Laketograpy founder and former Vice-President of Sales & Marketing for Texas-based Palm Harbor Homes, Maury Kennedy, joins SFW as the as the agency’s new General Manager of Social Media.
Tasked with leading the agency’s charge to win at social media for their clients, Kennedy is now responsible for social media strategy for 35+ client accounts, including that of his former employer. The typical account Kennedy manages has shown an average 300% increase in reach and engagement within a one-month time period.
Kennedy has long ties to SFW, having used the agency’s services as a client for more than 25 years in his role at Palm Harbor, Oakwood Homes and the Renewing American Civilization lecture series taught by then Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich. The longevity made for an easy decision for SFW to partner with Kennedy’s company.
“With his sales and VP background, Maury understands business and bottom lines, which is significant,” notes Ged King, CEO of SFW. “Anyone can get ‘Likes’ for a page. Maury is hands on. He dives deep inside a brand to build an engaged fan base. In fact, he was the one client that knew social media better than we did, so it made perfect sense for us to partner up and leverage his talent and experience.”
Kennedy’s prior business model focused on smaller clients. One reason he decided to partner with SFW is the ability it affords him to leverage the broader services offered by a full agency. He now manages more than 1.5 million fans across large and established brands such as the 130-year-old Channellock, Inc., to clients that include the grassroots Dallas International Guitar Festival, Wicked Taco out of Raleigh, Exclusively Weddings in Greensboro and Coastal Shower Doors in Jacksonville, Florida.
King and Kennedy also joined forces to pioneer a novel way to entice clients to sample SFW’s social media services.
“When we see an opportunity to make a difference, we’ll offer a free two-week trial period,” explains Kennedy. “During this time a client—or potential client—hands the keys to their social channels over to us.” He notes that the two weeks offers insights used to pull together a more comprehensive proposal for long-term engagement, while simultaneously demonstrating to clients the impact the agency can have, even in a condensed time-frame.
“I decided to do this full time because of my passion for photography and videography and the inherent advantage it gives a brand to create better-than-average content on social media,” says Kennedy. “As a professional photographer and a lifelong marketer, social media is the perfect combination that allows me to combine my skills. SFW was my choice in ad agency for 25 years so this isn’t just a sales pitch for me. I believe in the work we do.”
